How to Choose the Right Look for Your Windows

Louver Sizes

The size of louvers in a shutter is a reflection of personal design preference and often harmonizes with the overall interior aesthetic of a home. The 3.5 inch louvers are the most common, but the 4.5 inch size has become more popular as homeowners lean towards simpler, more modern designs.

Design Features

Rear Hidden Tilt

Embrace a modern look while preserving timeless elegance. Our Rear Hidden Tilt employs a discreet metal strip on the louver's back end, reducing vertical distractions and streamlining the view. With Hidden Tilt, a gentle adjustment to one louver effortlessly aligns the rest.

Control Rod

The most common design of Plantation Shutters is with a center Control Rod, which is the primary  connector for every individual louver. This control rod, positioned on the front of the panel, simultaneously moves all louvers. When the louvers are fully closed in the upward position, the control rod settles into a small opening in the top rail known as the Mouse Hole.

Split Tilt

Split tilt enhances light control by dividing the panel's top and bottom sections into independently operable halves. While typically centered, its placement can be tailored to fit varying window sash dimensions or to suit aesthetic tastes.

Divider Rail

A divider rail is a 3" strip of wood that connects the left and right stile of the shutter. Though commonly used for structural stability on tall panels, a Divider Rail can also be used to cover the sash and locking mechanisms on a window, or to provide louver clearance at a transom window. A Divider rail can be placed at any height, and in some cases, more than 1 Divider Rail may be neccesary.
